FAQs
Why is this inspection scanner better than cameras?
Traditional cameras are prone to image distortion. Verify Inline uses advanced scanner technology to capture distortion-free images. This is combined with AI-powered software that compares directly to the client-approved PDF , resulting in unmatched accuracy and near-zero false positives.
Is this system really cloud-native, or just "cloud-hosted"?
Verify Inline is the world's first truly cloud-native inline inspection system. This isn't just about remote access; it means you get scalable, secure, and centralized dashboards to monitor every press, in every plant, from anywhere.
What do I need to run this inline barcode verifier?
All you need is a recent Chrome or Microsoft Edge browser to run the Verify software. We provide the PC that sits on your shop floor.
How does Verify Inline improve our inline quality control?
By moving your inline quality control to the cloud, you get global oversight from a single dashboard. You can track quality and trends across all sites in real-time, empowering you to make confident, data-driven decisions instead of just reacting to problems.
What makes this inline inspection system different from all the others?
Two words: Cloud-Native. We are the first to market with a true cloud-native inline inspection system. While competitors are stuck with hardware-bound, on-premise systems, Verify Inline gives you global access, unlimited scalability, and a single source of truth for your entire operation.
What types of printing inspection does Verify Inline cover?
All of them, with no add-ons required. Verify Inline is an all-in-one system. Your printing inspection workflow will automatically check registration, graphics, text, color delta, and decode/grade barcodes and QR codes.
How flexible is this label inspection system? Does it work with our presses?
It's built for flexibility. Verify Inline works with all common printing methods, including flexo, offset, digital, and gravure. It supports both narrow and wide web, making it an effortless addition to your existing production line.
Can Verify Inline inspect a UV varnish in register?
Verify Inline is currently working to improve this capability. If the varnish creates a visible difference between the master and sample, the system can detect it, but this capability is not guaranteed in the initial release.
Can Verify Inline detect clear varnishes or adhesives (e.g., starving or registration issues)?
Verify Inline is currently working to improve this capability. As with UV varnish, only visible differences may be detected.
Can Verify Inline integrate with ink keys on a web offset press?
The system can send a network or physical (5V/12V) signal when a difference is detected. However, it does not adjust or control ink keys, your press system must act on the signal.
How does Verify Inline handle holographics and foils?
The system can adjust lighting and UV to reduce false differences, isolate holographic and foil effects, and focus inspection on text and image changes.
Is Verify Inline just a camera? Does it use mirrors?
No. It uses a line scan camera with LEDs and does not rely on mirrors. This provides a non-distorted, high-accuracy image.
How long does it take to review and accept defects on a 20–30k foot roll?
Results appear as inspections are completed. A typical delay is 15–20 seconds, depending on the capture rate (e.g., every 2nd, 5th, or 10th repeat). Timing is comparable to existing inline camera systems.
What is the scanner width range? What is the maximum width?
Standard systems range from 400 mm to over 1,200 mm. Wider configurations are possible depending on the press, there is no fixed upper limit.
Can Verify Inline be installed on a gluing or pasting machine?
Yes. If the machine has enough physical space, installation is possible. The system has already been tested on laminators and gluing stages.
What is the maximum inspection speed?
There is no fixed maximum. The system has been used successfully at ~800 ft/min. Speed capacity depends on how many repeats you choose to inspect.
For color measurement, can we enter reference Lab values before a job?
Not currently. Color comparisons are done image-to-image rather than against stored Lab values. Future cloud updates will expand color capabilities, including potential hardware partner integrations.
Does the system physically mark non-conformances? How are flagged parts separated?
Verify Inline uses digital or physical alarms/signals. The system can integrate with rewinders or flagging equipment as needed, there are no inherent restrictions.
Is Verify Inline cloud-based? What is the expected latency?
Yes, the system is fully cloud-based. Typical inspection latency is 15–20 seconds, depending on capture frequency and barcode checks.
What capabilities does Verify Inline have for Variable Data Printing (VDP)?
OCR and barcode checks for VDP are supported in specific workflows. Variable graphics are more complex and may require a source-of-truth file such as a PDF. More VDP solutions are under development.
Can Verify Inline scan both sides of a web or sheet at once?
Yes. Using two scanner heads (top and bottom), the system can scan both sides and merge results in the cloud.
Can Verify Inline integrate with lamination or rewind equipment?
Yes. Beta units have already been tested successfully on laminators.
Where is the scanner installed on a sheetfed press?
Installation depends on the press manufacturer and configuration. Additional details are required to determine the optimal location.
Can reference Lab color values be entered before a run?
Not yet. GlobalVision is working with major color partners to introduce this capability in the near future.
Can a site test the system before committing?
There is no formal testing program yet, but GlobalVision is seeking early adopters. You can send samples for testing, and GlobalVision can run them on their rewinder and share real-time results.
Can Verify Inline run locally without an internet connection?
No. A cloud connection is required. GlobalVision is open to discussing specific offline requirements if needed.
Does Verify Inline support variable barcodes? Can it export CSV files?
Yes. Variable barcodes are supported in certain workflows, and CSV export is available since all raw data can be accessed.
Can Verify Inline inspect tinplate or other materials besides paper?
Yes. Performance is not limited to paper. GlobalVision typically requests sample materials to verify results for non-standard substrates.
Is image processing done locally or in the cloud?
Most processing is cloud-based. Color preprocessing is done locally, but ~99% of inspection algorithms run in the cloud for faster updates and improved performance.
Can the system automatically flag events like factory splices?
Yes, as long as timing or location data is known. The system can filter out known events to avoid false positives.
What is the expected minimum defect size at a 400 mm inspection width?
There is no fixed defect-size specification. Detection depends on the use case, press setup, thresholds, and tuning. GV prefers giving users adjustable controls rather than fixed limits.
