Embossing
Embossing is a printing and finishing technique that creates a raised design on paper, packaging, or labels.
It works by pressing the material between two metal plates, one with the design raised and one with it recessed, so the surface is pushed upward to form a 3D shape. Embossing is often used to highlight logos, text, patterns, or decorative elements and make them stand out both visually and through touch.
Why it matters:
Embossing adds a premium, high-quality feel to printed materials. It helps important elements catch attention, improves brand perception, and creates a tactile experience that makes packaging or labels feel more luxurious and memorable.
Benefits:
- Creates a premium look and feel: Adds depth and texture
- Enhances brand recognition: Makes key elements like logos stand out
- Improves shelf appeal: Helps products stand out visually
- Adds tactile interest: Makes packaging more engaging to touch
Use cases in print and packaging:
- Product packaging: Highlighting brand logos or patterns on boxes, cartons, or sleeves
- Labels: Adding texture to wine labels, cosmetics, and specialty products
- Marketing materials: Elevating business cards, brochures, and invitations
- Security applications: Creating raised elements that are harder to counterfei
